I am replacing the rear quarter as the existing one had an argument with a tree whilst trialling, and you can guess which came off worse. The rear quarter which i purchased is from a later model with the fuel filler located at high level, but the one i removed was at low level. The panels are the same apart from the hose from the filler cap is in a different place and fouls the inner rear wing. Out came the grinder (Plasma cutter is on my Christmas list) and i removed the obstructing metal.

Once i was happy with the fitting of the wing i made up a metal box section to cover up the hole on the inner wing. This was then welded in place and coated with red oxide. I then cut an access panel to the lock for the fuel filler flap.

Inner wing finished and under sealed.

Undercoated crossmember with red oxide and then painted with smoothrite. All the joints in the bodywork have been sealed with mastic to stop the ingress of water when wading.

The floor panel has been sealed and fixed down with pop rivets. I have cut an access hole in the floor above the petrol pump for easy access when things go wrong. This hole will be covered with a spare piece of floor screwed down to make a cover plate.

This is the view of the petrol pump from above.

Painted whole interior and first job was putting the wiring harness back underneath the dash. Once this was done i installed the heater matrix.

ECU installed back underneath drivers seat. Looking into re-siting the ECU at a higher level as i've had water flood inside before (does'nt help when wading with big holes in the floorpan!)

Still loads of bodywork left to do, i haven't even got any front inner wings fitted yet.

 To be continued................
