Above are pictures of the rolling chassis just after lifting the body off. Upon closer inspection of the chassis its in very good condition, with no welding required. The main objective for the chassis is to clean and paint it, to keep it in good condition. I started at the rear of the chassis by removing the axle and wedging my workmate underneath. I then set about the chassis with a wire brush attachment for my grinder to bring it up clean enough for painting. Very impressed with the attachment although after 5 minutes use i had to open the garage door to see and breath.

Fuel pipes routed on top of the chassis were covered in mud and required renewing.

Once the chassis was clean enough it received a coat of silver hammerite. Then the rear axle, which i refurbished, was put back on the chassis so that i could remove the front axle and clean and paint the front half.

Same for the front end. I left the engine and gearbox in situ as "Touch wood" all was ok. I replaced various oil seals and mountings as access to these was now good with the body removed. Again the front axle was then reinstalled after i had refurbished it.
