Doors n Locks

Step 1: Create a door from Objects>TerrainLike>Doors >SpinnyDoors.
I chose MetalDoor21. Click on the properties button and the click on Add>EngineFeatures>Locked. This brings up a small options box just click the wee checkbox and Ok it.

Next, click Add>EngineFeatures>KeyDst. This brings up a box for assigning the door to the key. If you get confused or can't remember wether its KeyDest or KeySrc, remember the Door is the DeSTination , geddit?KeyDestination is the Door

There are 3 options:

MasterBit: (leave unchecked)
RegionMask: (place any number 1-999) Generally 1
LockID: (place any number 1-999) This differentiates the keys

Example I used is:
MasterBit: unchecked
RegionMask: 1
LockID: 4

You can have more than one locked door open with your key , just give the same Lock Id

Step 2: Create your Key from Object >Key-or-Part> For simplicity pick Key 1. Click Properties>Add>EngineFeatures>KeySrc.
KeySrc settings are set the exact same as the KeyDst. EG:

MasterBit: unchecked
RegionMask: 1
LockID: 4

Name the Key

To name the key to something other than Key, click on Properties>Edit, this will bring up a wee box similar to the one opposite. I named my key "freek" Then click on Properties>Inventory >Object Name .
Name_freek: "Freezer". This key will be named "Freezer"


Using a Proxy Lock Box

The links are set up slightly different for the usual lock settings. Create a Door and a ProxyLockBox
Object Hierarchy>Locks>Lockboxes>ProxyLockBox

Select the LockBox and Porperties>EngineFeatures>Locked
Next, click Add>EngineFeatures>KeyDst and give it a key Dst

Now select the Door and Click on the Links and add the lock link:
Flavor: Lock
From: Door
To: ProxyLockBox

 

Using An Object as a Door

In this example I used a cabinet, you can use practically anything, whatever fits your setting.
Firstly remember and add the S>Script> StdDoor

All you need do is basically copy the settings from the pic opposite
