High Level/Elevated stations, viaducts, and bridges.
The project began with making a number of stations, viaducts and bridges in grey brick with supporting concrete pillars. These were at first intended for use in my Paris Metro project, so that my representations of the Classic Sprague-Thomson rolling stock could be seen on an elevated section. These were given names beginning 'DDD HL ...' for ease of identification, and are available from the Trainz Download Station.
Comments on these first uploads led to the creation of a second series (with names beginning 'DDD HL2 ...') and the first of these were made available from the Download Station. This second series were supported on red brick arches and abutments, and included plate girder bridges.
Dissatisfaction with the brick and inner arch textures led me to revise these, and at the same time to expand the series to give what I hoped would be a completely flexible system including four- and two- track stations, viaducts and bridges, with sections of viaduct permitting transition from four- to two-tracks. Following a suggestion on the Trainz Forum, a single-track viaduct was added together with a transition from single to two tracks. In addition, the four-track station and viaduct were modified to represent a former four-track section from which the two central through tracks had been removed, as at Bath Spa (a former GWR broad gauge station).
Problems with the lighting of the arches in Trainz led to further revision of the brick textures to minimise the effect of these problems, and to creating alternative stations, bridges and fixed viaduct sections with 'bricked-in' arches.
