To become a Rotarian you must be in an executive position in a career, business or profession.
You will be expected to attend 60% of meetings, although you can make these up at other clubs
or other relevant meetings.
You will also be expected to join in some of the events organised by the club, either fund raising
or involved in carrying out duties of 'service' to the community.
Membership is by invitation only and if you are interested you should let your wishes be known to
any member, but preferaby by one you know. He will discuss any questions you may have and if
you are still interested you may be invited to several meetings, where you will obtain a feel
for the club and be able to ask any questions. If you then express a serious interest in joining
then an information meeting will be arranged with just a few members to inform you of the
responsibilites of membership and the likely costs involved and to give you an opportunity to ask
further questions.
If this goes well then a member will propose you for membership and this will go before the
Club Service Committee, which will assign to you a job 'classification'. The secretary will then
write to each member of the club informing them of your membership proposal and your classification
and issue a letter inviting members to put forward any objections they may have within the next
ten days. If there are no objections then membership will be approved by the club council at its
next meeting. If there are objections, a ballot will be held by council and the proposed membership
will be subject to the result of that ballot.
The secretary and your proposer will keep you informed of progress.
