Text Box: Navigation 2 - Advanced 2/3 x Day Course

Includes the Introduction to Navigation Course on Day 1, and builds on this with more advanced techniques on day 2. Day 3  will  consolidate the previous modules and provide essential Practical Application. Of Skills Learnt

Minimum of 16 - 24 hours practical navigation training out in the field where it matters, over approximately 20 - 30 km of extremely varied Brecon Beacons ground. Start 0900 - Finish around 1700

· Using Aspect of Slope to determine position

· GPS - Advantages and limitations

· Altimeters and Barometers

· Navigation with groups

· Choice of Route

· Route Preparation - Route Cards

· Macro and Micro Navigation

· Calibrating your pace

· Low Visibility Navigation

· How not to get lost

· A perspective on finding yourself

· Intense Practical Exercises

· Group dynamics and Leadership

· Choice of Compass/Map

 

The first day comprises of the Introduction to Navigation Course, the second day includes all the elements listed in the Module Objectives.

 

The third day on the 3 x day Course provides intense and real practical enforcement of all tools learnt in the previous 2 days.

 

You can take your pick of the step approach of 1, 2 or 3 day courses, dependent on your own requirements and ability.

 

Group numbers are kept down to allow for a positive student to Instructor ratio.

 

These courses always bring enjoyable results, and are ideal for the Instructor who needs more advanced skills to teach groups such as Duke of Edinburgh Award students, or volunteers.
