Sir Nicholas Bacon II kept a 'commonplace book' to record anything that interested him. Horticulture, medicine, Latin poems, proverbs and epigrams, estate and manorial accounts, astrological wisdom .....

It is a window into the world of an educated member of the Elizabethan gentry, at the time of the English Renaissance.

This book is currently being prepared for research and publication by Professor Heather Meakin (Case Western Reserve University, USA)
