The Regency Assembly
|
The Regency Assembly was founded in the
Autumn of 2005 to understand and perform dances popular around the Regency
Period.
The Regency Assembly offers an attractive alternative which
places much emphasis on grace, deportment and social etiquette. |
|
We strive to recreate the elegance of the Regency Ball by learning and performing dances popular in the period. The style is exemplified in the film version of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. We can’t guarantee Miss Bennet or Mr. Darcy will be in attendance however, these elegant dances are enriched with a little flirtation !
The Regency Assembly enjoy learning dances which were popular in
English Assembly Rooms; in the period 1790 - 1820.
Period Balls are organised in historical locations with members dressed in
authentic clothing. Support and guidance is given in making or selecting appropriate
dress. Most of our new members don’t have Ball Gowns or Breeches in their
wardrobe !
Dance workshops and classes are regularly held in Lichfield.
Please see the Classes page for more details.
