2007 Rally

October is usually about the end of the bike rally season in the UK but for the past few years I have been travelling to Northern Spain for the old bike rally held by the M.C. Piston of Asturias.

The rally is based around the small village of Colombres on the edge of the Picos de Europa mountains, about 50 miles from the ferry port of Santander . Most of the organised rides out take advantage of the outstanding countryside and mountains.

2007 Rally.
Once again the Gods favoured us with a dry ride from Taunton to Plymouth for the 1200 ferry to Santander, arriving 18 hours later to rather overcast skies. The trip along the coast uneventfull even if my companions thought we were lost on several occasions. I'm not sure they were taken in by my 'scenic route' explanation. We eventually made it to our usual watering hole in Cabezon de la Sal for a beer & tapas de tortilla. Suitably refreshed we made our way to Colombres to register for the rally.

Its not all 'bikes' we do get time off to relax.....
Preparing the famous 'Quemada', thats about 3 gallons of alcohol on fire in the hotel dining room. Would make any HSE officer faint dead away!
