Assessment
Centres
Assessment Centres
and Development Centres are the terms given to a method of multiple
assessment which aims to measure an individual's strengths, abilities
and development needs in a fair, thorough and reliable way. They
are increasingly used in such areas as:
- Recruitment
and Promotion
- Identifying
Future Potential
- Team Building
- Organisational
Planning
- Identification
of Training & Development Needs
Although there
are many similarities between an Assessment Centre and a Development
Centre, there are also some important differences:
- An ASSESSMENT
CENTRE is normally the term applied to a process which produces
a "yes/no" result, as in recruitment or promotion, for example.
- A DEVELOPMENT
CENTRE usually focuses more specifically on learning and development,
helping people to perform their current roles more effectively
or preparing them for possible, future roles.
The benefits
of using Assessment and/or Development Centres include:
- More effective
selection and promotion decisions.
- Greater accuracy,
fairness and objectivity in reaching selection decisions.
- More accurate
assessment of an individual's future potential and development
needs.
- Identification
of major "skill gaps" within an organisation.
- More cost-effective
and "targeted" training and development activities.
- Improved
teamwork.
We can help

and/or designing appropriate exercises, activities, tests, etc..
- Briefing
and training assessors ie those involved in observing and assessing
the candidates
- Designing
and preparing all necessary documentation and materials.
- Managing
and co-ordinating the event/s.
- Administering
and interpreting occupational tests.
- Assisting
with candidate feedback and follow-up support.
