Castle Players Amateur Dramatic Society

History

The Castle Players was reformed in 1987, the original group having disbanded in the late 50s early 60s.

From a small initial membership we have grown over the years and now have a core membership of around 50 people.

In addition we have for large scale and specialist productions co-opted people from other groups and organisations and from the local community.

In 2001 the Castle Players Amateur Dramatic Society Of Beaumaris became a Registered Charity No. 1090239

In 2003 we won the Anglesey One Act Drama Festival with our production of Interior Designs, with Anne Bowen winning the best actress award.

In 2004 we again won the same festival with our production of Zoo Story, with Brian Jones winning the best actor award.

This production was selected by the adjudicator for the Wales One Act Drama Festival in Swansea, where Brian Jones won the best actor award.

In 2005 we were runners up in the same festival with our entry of a scene from Arthur Miller's The Crucible, winning the technical award for costume, Jane Handy, Sue Phillips and Lesley Honnor and being short listed for best actor, Brian Jones and best actress Freyja Handy. As you will see from elsewhere on the site we presented The Crucible in it's entirety the same year in Beaumaris.

In 2006 Brian Jones again won the best actor award at the Anglesey One Act Drama Festival for his performance in Guardian of the Sidewalk.
