Blood, crime and stories are the chief features of rhk's life.
Born on the 11th of February in Northampton, he was soon diagnosed with having Haemophilia .
Naturally, this bleeding disorder created many
trials and tribulations for him and his parents. But eventually he ended up, unscathed, at the
Bournemouth Film School. This was where he learnt his media skills and began
writing.
After attempting to start up a number of businesses
in Thatcher's Britain he finally sought refuge at New Scotland Yard. Where he worked on the crime appeals program 'Police 5' researching crimes and telling their stories to the public until it ended in 1989.
A
few years were then spent in the Press offices of the Metropolitan
Police and the BBC until he became the Head of the Video Unit
at the City Of London Police - during the heady days of the IRA
bombings. He continued making corporate films there until his disability became too much to ignore.
Like most Haemophiliacs of his
generation rhk was infected with Hepatitis C
in the eighties through blood
products. There followed a dark period as he had to come to terms
with bleeds, arthritis and Hep C. What kept him going was his
family and the
need to write Deathless.
Despite many operations and an
unsuccessful attempt to clear the Hep C virus (see his blog), he has
at last completed the novel and is presently busy writing his next 'Mr Reed.'
Any agents or publishers out there interested?
