| In Association Croquet, the hoops are run in the same way as in Golf Croquet, but rather than players taking alternate shots, bonus strokes are used to build a break - as in the game of snooker. In a successful break, a good player will often play many successive shots in making a sequence of hoops. On the other hand, a break will sometimes consist of a few shots in which the balls are played so as to leave a tactically favourable position. The most significant type of shot is the croquet stroke (from which the game gets its name) where two balls are placed in contact with each other so that when one is struck, both are propelled forward. Mastering the different types of croquet stroke is a large part of learning to play the game. |
