ASHBY CROQUET CLUB Learn To Play Croquet courses & Group Taster Sessions |
|
LEARN TO PLAY CROQUET Each year in June
we run an Introduction to Croquet
course for people new to the game. This year's course will consist of two
evening sessions (on Tuesday 7th and 14th June, 7.00 to 9.00 pm), introducing
participants to the rules and tactics of Golf Croquet. The cost of the
course is £10.00, which includes temporary membership of the club for the
duration of the course, so you are welcome to come along and play during club
sessions. When the course has
finished, there is of course no obligation to join the Club as a full member,
but lots of course participants do become addicted to croquet and we offer
the remainder of your first year's membership at half price (e.g. Standard
membership £29 instead of £58). We can
also offer further coaching in Golf Croquet and an introduction to
Association Croquet on an individual or group basis according to demand. The course is
free to children under 18 accompanied by a participating adult. The course takes
place on the Ashby Croquet Club lawns at Moira Miners Welfare sports ground,
Bath Lane, Moira DE12 6BP. All equipment is
provided for the course; the only requirement is that flat soled shoes or
trainers be worn. Please also bring
wet-weather clothing just in case, although we do have shelters available
which are useful during heavy showers! If you are
interested in learning the game but can't wait until the course, just come
along to one of our club sessions (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm or Sunday
afternoons) to learn the basics and enjoy a friendly game. GROUP TASTER SESSIONS Also, we can arrange croquet
taster sessions for outside groups and organisations, e.g. WI groups and
Round Table. The charge for a two-hour
session in 2012 is £4.50 per person, with a minimum charge of £45.00 (i.e. 10
people). Our taster sessions are
proving to be as popular as ever, and our slots for 2012 are filling up
fast. For more details about taster
sessions, please contact (tel 01283 703585) or (tel. 01283 223152). |
