Federation of East Midlands Croquet Clubs

Grants for Young Players, 2008 season

At the 2007 AGM, members agreed that, to help promising young players to develop their croquet skills by playing in appropriate competitions, the Federation will offer help towards the costs of entry, travel and accommodation incurred in connection with CA listed events.   We are keen to make potential recipients aware of these grants, and if your club has any likely candidates I should be most grateful if you would bring the grants to their attention

Applications should be sent to the Federation Development Officer, Bob Thompson, at ‘Mycroft’, 7 Rufford Close, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 4BX.

I would particularly ask you to note that grants should normally be approved in advance of the event.

Applicants should note the conditions which will normally be applied to any grant.

Financial help for young players

  1. Contributions may be made in a grant towards the cost of entry, travel and accommodation incurred by young players playing in CA approved events.
  2. Grants will be entirely at the discretion of the Federation.  Decisions on whether to pay grants will be taken in the first instance by a sub-committee including members of at least two member clubs of the Federation.
  3. Applications for grants should normally be submitted and approved before the event takes place, and should be submitted to the Federation Development Officer.  Following the event, receipts should be submitted in support of the claim.
  4. Applications should be supported by the player’s home club, and a note confirming support should be submitted with the application.
  5. Applicants should meet the current CA definition of a ‘young player’, and should be a member of a club affiliated to the Federation.
  6. The maximum grant to any one player in one season will normally be £100, and for the 2008 season the total sum available will not exceed £500.
