Vicky is a professional potter living and working in the Conwy Valley 6 miles south from the town of Conwy, where she has her own studio and showroom, open all year round. The studio has been established since 1992 after a period of renovation and building the premises with her partner Philip Owen whose work encompasses projects in wood, stone and metal. Vicky makes a wide variety of domestic and decorative stoneware and porcelain, gas fired in a reduction atmosphere to cone 10, [c.1295C]. From mugs and bowls to larger pieces and some garden wares. Her pieces are principally thrown on a momentum wheel but some are slab built, modeled, pierced or made with a combination of all these techniques. Vicky uses a wide variety of glazes and combinations with varying techniques to produce different effects and depth of colour on her pots. These effects have been derived from years of experimentation and experience and inspired by natural geography and the glazes of oriental ceramics and other studio pottery. Her work has many influences, from an early interest in Art Nouveau and Celtic Art evolving more recently to Abstract Expressionism, Far Eastern Ceramics and the North wales Landscape.
