Over and above our Scouts taking part in
International Camps, both at home and abroad, they regularly camp in various
groups. Zodiac Award Camps, Patrol Camps, Troop Camps and District Camping
events all year round.
We are very fortunate to have a
number of open and wooded areas only a few minutes walk from our Scout hall. We
regularly "take to the woods" where we are able to practice saw &
axe work, pioneering, making bivouacs, backwoods cooking and fire
lighting.
Sailing, Canoeing and swimming are enjoyed
by the troop. We own a number of canoes and canoe trailer and have access to
Lochs, rivers and the sea only a short trip from our base. Individual scouters
and scouts own various yachts and dinghies and there are a number of very good
sailing clubs a short drive from Cupar. Cupar also boasts its own swimming
pool. A result of this is a number of our scouts hold canoeing, sailing and
swimming proficiency badges, even to instructor level.
One of our regular
"community" commitments sees the scouts in white T-shirts acting as
litter pickers at the annual RAF Leuchars, International Airshow. Whilst it can
be a long day for the Scouts they end up with "ring-side seats" for
displays such as the famous Red Arrows.
