Wisley Flower Show, June 21-23, 2005

The Hertfordshire Group was awarded a Silver Gilt Medal for a display entitled 'Command Performance'. The interpretation used mainly plants that had been awarded the AGM and as such were star performers in a 2-Act comedy/tragedy taking the form of sun and shade lovers. The leading man was Clematis 'Bill MacKenzie' and the leading lady Clematis 'Mrs Cholmondeley'.

The Group was absolutely delighted by the award, gained much experience and learned valuable lessons about attention to every detail - even the moss has to be fresh and green! Perhaps the greatest reward was the feeling of corporate achievement by a small group of dedicated members who had worked together so well over many months. Each member had a special role to play and ensuring it all ran smoothly was Madeleine McCormack to whom the team members wish to pay tribute. The concept and design was the inspiration of Barbara Stalbow. The team thank all those members of the Herts Group who contributed plants for the display.

Capel Manor Spring Gardening & Country Show, April 2-4, 2004

The Hertfordshire Group won 'Best in Section' in the Floral marquee. The Group was delighted with this accolade at their first attempt at a show.
The theme was ‘Woodlanders’ and all the plants were grown by members of the group. There were 76 different varieties of plants on the stand.

The prize money of £500 was generously sponsored by Capel Manor and Stone Green Nurseries.

We felt that we achieved our objectives of promoting the HPS and of providing a learning experience within the group for future shows.
