Made a flying start to his Boro career with the only goal of the game on his debut, and four more in his next three games including another two against Oxford City at Sungate. Appeared to lose confidence when the initial burst dried up and discipline problems started to get the better of him as the goal drought continued into the following season. Finally found the net again in November 2001 but immediately began a suspension that would keep him out until the New Year. Only scored once more that season but was a constant handful for defences with good close control around the edge of the box, and was often more effective playing behind the front two, linking very well indeed with Danny Lovell. Chances were limited in the Essex Senior League with the arrival of the similar, but more prolific, Kenny Leslie but actually finished the season with more goals than the previous two combined. Discipline improved a little but still incurred another lengthy suspension after a major incident against Southend Manor, returning to the squad for the return match at Southend at the end of the season. Stayed with Romford despite the departure of long-term mentor Paul Joynes to Tilbury, and thrived under Mark Reed with both improved disciplinary and goalscoring records. Was well on course to finish as top scorer in 2003-04 until the arrival of Jason Friend, who overtook him while Clark was out with a dislocated shoulder, sustained in a skiing accident while on a 'business trip' to Romania. Still took the manager's Player of the Year award however and surpassed his previous career tally once again. Was sent off after a fracas at Tilbury in 2004 pre-season but was cleared on appeal, before suffering a torn stomach muscle in October. Didn't appear again until the last League game of the season, coming off the bench to score the last goal in a 4-2 win at home to Stansted. Scored three times in 2005 pre-season but further red card in September incurred 84-day suspension for associated multiple misdemeanours. Missed roughly the same period as he had the previous season before returning to competitive action in Boro's ill-fated League Cup semi-final at A F C Hornchurch. Had mixed fortunes in the 2006-07 F A Cup, being sent off against Tilbury, a Club record fifth time for Romford, having scored the only goal of the game in the previous round. Made few appearances subsequently before the prerequisite long-term absence due to a broken toe. Returned once more after nearly a year's absence to become the first player to appear, and indeed score, in eight consecutive seasons for Romford.
