Didn't start playing football until his late twenties, preferring rugby and professional squash. Joined from Barking & East Ham United and showed what was to come by hitting the crossbar on his debut as substitute. Scored in each of his next nine games and hit another run of prolific form in the New Year, scoring sixteen goals in ten games culminating in a double strike in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy Final as Boro beat Ilford 3-0. Finished with the second best season's tally in the Club's history with a better goals-per-game ratio than record holder Vinny John, but was sent off for arguing about a handball in the last game of the season, which virtually defined his next season. Scored once in pre-season and didn't find the net again until five minutes from the end of his last game before starting his 35-day suspension, and went another five games before finally hitting another run of form then missing a month with fractured ribs. Appearances for the remainder of the 2004-05 season were limited by work commitments. Became known for incorporating a somersault in goal celebrations, and missed the start of a game in November 2003 because he was busy websurfing.
