Was borrowed from Billericay Town after several players left for Bishops Stortford, but spent most of the time in the reserves. Signed permanently the following season and made excellent progress as a utility player, eventually holding down a regular spot in midfield with some spectacular goals and displaying a superb attitude to all aspects of the game. Originally nicknamed ‘the Vicar’ as a result of his ecclesiastical hairstyle but subsequently became ‘the Scream’ due to a perceived resemblance to the Munch painting. Lost his place under John Bennett and left for Hertford Town, but returned when the Club’s suspension was lifted and went on to take the Player of the Year award. Held the distinction of scoring Boro’s last goal at Sungate before the clubhouse fire, and scoring their first goal on their return nine months later. Proved how hard he was by refusing to move from his seat on the coach after the window smashed leaving Walton & Hersham's car park, spending the whole journey home in the teeth of a blizzard and missing the next game with 'flu. Broke his ankle on the last day of the season at home to Walton, having already scored twice in the match. Was playing again by the start of the next season but was always trying to catch up on fitness. Found travelling from Chelmsford for little prospect of regular first team football rather expensive, and reluctantly moved to Braintree Town in the Premier Division, eventually making the first team squad, but still kept in touch and even listed himself on the Club’s Friends Reunited section.
