Came through the youth team and leapfrogged the reserves to make a startling impression in the Essex Senior League. Played mainly in defence but also in midfield, and was a consistent goalscorer, mostly from headers. Was quickly put on contract and went on to be voted Player of the Year in his debut season. Has the distinction of scoring the Club’s thousandth goal, at Burnham Ramblers in October 2002, but also scored the own goal that brought the Club record defensive sequence to an end. Was less prominent in a midfield role under Mark Reed, but improved his goalscoring rate further and proved an excellent deputy up front when Kevin Clark was injured. Continued his excellent goalscoring record into the 2004-05 season and established himself as the season's leading scorer from centre back, only being overtaken at a late stage by Jordan Tolan. Still became the first player ever to win the Player of the Year award twice, and was also voted Players' Player of the Year. Contract was not renewed at the end of the 2004-05 season due to work commitments with the fire brigade, leaving the way clear to join newly-relegated league rivals A F C Hornchurch.
