appearances 79+2 (league 59+1)
debut OXFORD CITY, Ryman League Division One 20.3.99
Joined from Basildon United and began as a right back, but also filled in at sweeper and in midfield. Had excellent pace and distribution from right back but was moved into midfield permanently for the 1999-2000 season and was deputy as captain to Mal Grayburn. Was believed in some quarters to have scored two own goals in the space of three minutes in the match with Erith (which would have made three in eleven days, as well as one pre-season at Burnham Ramblers), but the first was ‘credited’ to Danny Winney. Was apologised to by the ref who had sent him off at Worthing, when at another Romford match the week after. Always kept one eye on his flash motor whilst patrolling the clubhouse side touchline at Sungate. Held the Club record for most matches played before scoring his first goal (subsequently superceded by George Alder), finally breaking his duck in his eightieth match, although he had scored from a free-kick at Great Wakering Rovers during the 1999 pre-season which began at thirty yards and gained five with each retelling, eventually reaching the far end of the car park behind the other goal. Was released when the Club was suspended, but by then had already drifted out to the margins of the of the squad as one of those whose loyalty to the Club following the transition from Amin Levitt to John Bennett was rewarded by exclusion from the starting XI. Later turned up at East Thurrock United and played against Boro the following season. Appeared as a model in the Spall catalogue.
