Don McGOVERN
Joint manager July 1995 to May 1997

'The McGuv'nor', formed a formidable managerial partnership with Alan Marson at Ford United and Collier Row before taking over at Romford in 1995, securing the Essex Senior League double and then the ICIS League Division Two championship the following season after the merger with Collier Row. Ruled by fear (and kept a shotgun in the office) but commanded a huge respect from everyone. Was supposedly 'moved upstairs' but left football management to concentrate on role as a player's agent. Restored links with Boro in 2003 when Mark Reed took over as manager, with a considerable sponsorship from his rail construction business.
