About the Instructor

Roy Johansen CRI CRFI CRWI is a certified Bob Ross instructor in Landscape/Seascape, floral and wildlife painting.

Roy was born in Yorkshire in 1948 and still lives in Leeds. Roy served in the Royal Navy for nine years before leaving to persue a career in insurance. In 1993 he was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, and underwent a long, agonizing, but ultimately sucessful range of treatment at Killingbeck Hospital, Leeds. Whilst convalescing Roy took up painting as therapy to help him come to terms with his illness. He hasn't stopped painting since,and continues to raise funds for the oesophageal patients' Association and Sue Ryder.

Roy carries out painting workshops throughout Yorkshire and also runs painting holidays teaching the Bob Ross style of wet-on-wet oil painting.
