L.M.S.8F 2-8-0 No.48773 at Highley in September 2004 - Built by the North British Locomotive Company at Glasgow for the War Department in 1940, this locomotive was initially operated by the L.M.S. as No. 8233 until it was sent to Iran as No. 41-109 in 1941. When returning from the Middle East in the early 1950's it went to the Longmoor Military Railway as No. 500 In 1957 it was transferred to British Railways stock becoming No. 48773 remaining in service until the end of steam on B.R. in August 1968 when it was then purchased for preservation.       More... ▼
