G.W.R. 4-6-0 No.7827 'Lydham Manor' approaching Kingswear Station in June 1977 or 1978. One of a batch of 10 built at Swindon in December 1950 by B.R. to a G.W.R. design being withdrawn from British Railways in October 1965.
By chance the family Holiday both in 1977 and 1978 was taken in a self-catering Chalet overlooking the newly reopened (1973) line between Paignton and Kingswear at Goodrington, - unfortunately with 2 young children, golden sand, sea and extremely good weather, and to my regret I did not take many photographs of the line or locomotives, those shown here have been scanned from the family photo-album.       More... ▼
