An Anecdote

Several days after hearing Fiddler's Bid in concert, I participated in a discussion group looking at differences in how American's and British view advertising. It was for a student's masters thesis and involved watching lots of different commercials. But I am digressing. As I walked to the bus stop after this focus group, I was talking to the researcher and found out she was from the Shetland Islands. Now, the Shetland Islands are relatively large, but when I mentioned that I had just seen a band form the Shetland Islands, imagine my surprise to discover that one of the fiddlers was her brother. What a small world!

Every January, Glasgow has its Celtic Connections music festival featuring tons of great Celtic music talent. I managed to choose just two concerts and it was a bit of a risk as I knew none of the artists. As it turned out, both were smash hits.
The first concert was Fiddler's Bid and it was held at the Barrowlands in the City Centre. The whole experience was quite interesting (see journal), but the band was great.
The second group, the Dubliners, was chosen just because their picture looked too cool to pass up. They were the last concert of the festival and there wasn't an empty seat in the house. Apparently they come every year, and we are already making plans to go again next year.

Images may take up to 30 seconds to load. They will play through automatically, or you can also use the controls at the bottom if you prefer.
