Thanksgiving - Because there are Canadians and Americans here at the vet school, we decided to celebrate both country's thanksgivings and therefore had one in October and in November.

Christmas - Although most of us went home from Christmas, there was still lots to do in Glasgow before the term ended. In George Square, in the City Centre, an ice skating rink was set up as part of a Christmas Fair with booths selling hot mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. After ice skating, several of us took a bus out to a town called Kirkintilloch where we had seen a cool looking restaurant called The Stables. I think it was the best meal I have had in Glasgow. The food was good, but the atmosphere was great. Originally the restaurant was a stable and was refurbished some time ago. Now is is decorated in a very rustic style that exactly suits the building.
