Queen Margaret Residence is a new (2002) hall which holds a total of 600 students in 16 separate buildings. Most buildings have 8 flats, two on each of four floors, with 5 rooms (en suite facilities) and a kitchen in each flat.
I am in a building at the back of the complex so things stay fairly quiet. Most of the North American vet students are in two neighboring buildings and often share flats.
Laundry is free!! And I usually don't have a problem getting washers and dryers. Central Services was originally set up to have a cafe, but I guess it never materialised.
The walk to the main Uni is about 15 minutes if you take the shortcut through the botanical gardens, and the walk to the vet school is about 35 minutes. I figure I average about 5 miles of walking a day during the week. Allows me to eat lots of biscuits (cookies).
Grocery stores are about 10 minutes away with the best prices at the Maryhill Tesco. Byers Road is on the way to the main Uni and has lots of restaurants, pubs, magazine shops, and other various stores.
