Bukyonza Primary School

This is a very exciting school with an excellent head teacher and a growing enrolment. Academic results are rising, the boarding section is growing in numbers, the staff are hard working and committed, and the community are very supportive of the school.

Construction of Nursery Classroom
The school introduced a nursery class in 2007 and in less than five months there were over 60 children each day.  At present their classroom is alongside the 5 – 7 year olds which is not ideal as the older children are noisy and intimidating.  Also with the provision of separate nursery classrooms, the 140 children (5 – 7 years) will now be able to be split into two classrooms which will be much easier to teach.

We are very grateful to Lycetts, www.lycetts.co.uk, for sponsoring our Sister Act evening in June and thus providing funds to enable us to build two nursery classrooms.  We are hoping for building work to start in early August.  Hopefully this will encourage more parents to send their young children to nursery school.

Water Tank
We are also hoping to provide a 10,000 litre water tank as at present the school shares a borehole, which is 500 meters away, and serves the entire local community.  Consequently during the dry season this borehole dries up.  It will also save time as at present a lot of time is wasted by children having to go and fetch water.
