Jaami Primary School

We are pleased to announce that funding has been secured for two new classrooms to be built.  This was much needed as two classes are still taking place under temporary structures (see photo bottom right).  This will improve academic results and the standard of education.  The funding will only be available if the two extra teachers, promised by the DEO in March 2009, are provided.   Also another condition of the funding is that the local community contribute at least 10,000 bricks.

If funds become available we would also like to attach a water tank to the classroom block to harvest the rainwater.  Water is desperately needed as the site is very arid and exposed. At present the school shares a single bore hole with the local community.  Ideally we would also like to give the school 4 teachers' houses as, at present, no teacher lives on the site, which means that theft becomes a problem and everything has to be well secured every evening.
