Kifuyo Secondary School School Motto: Commitment yields success. Kifuyo Secondary School is located in south east Uganda, in an area that is rural, remote and neglected. It is the only secondary school for 15 miles and there are an abundance of primary schools which could feed it but at the moment the school is in its infancy and is desperately ill-equipped to meet the challenge. It sits on a large 17 acre site and therefore there is sufficient land for extra buildings. Once we are happy that the enrolment has increased and that academic results have improved as a result of the extra classrooms we would like to construct 4 teachers’ houses and some teachers’ latrines. At present none of the teachers live at the school and many of them have to walk huge distances morning and night. If there were some houses at the school they would have more time to prepare and mark lessons which in turn would probably improve the academic results. Teachers’ accommodation also helps to attract and retain good quality teachers. If we have any extra funds we would also like to be able to provide some text books and science equipment. A new head teacher was appointed in January 2011. She has been the deputy head at the school for the past year. We are looking forward to meeting her in March 2011 and to working with her in future years. Head Teacher: Lydia Nabwire Number of Students in April 2010: 75 |
