Kisadhaki Primary School

Kisadhaki is a school doing an excellent job in difficult circumstances.  The school was community founded and had nothing until the government stepped in to build 6 classrooms in 2003. The school now has over 1000 children and is improving its academic standards year on year.

As with so many of the schools we work with teachers' houses are a problem, they have none at all.  This makes attracting the most capable teachers difficult given the rural location and the lack of suitable houses to rent locally.  The school needs around 10 teachers' houses to accommodate all the staff.

The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund held a fundraising event along with Susanna Warren and Added Dimension Events www.addeddimension.co.uk at the Palladium, with nearly 400 friends attending the musical Sister Act.  Thanks to the funds raised we are hoping, later in the year, to be able to build 4 teachers' houses. Hopefully also some latrines, as the present latrines are poor and insufficient, and maybe provide a much needed water tank.
