Rhiwbina 2nds v Llandaff North 2nds

With Canton not showing up for the League fixture with the firsts everyone piled down to Llandaff North to see a great game in perfect conditions between two committed teams.

It was Rhiwbina who got off to an incredible start scoring 5 unanswered tries in the first  half hour of the game and effectively wrapping the game up. The seconds are really having a great season so far and have an superb squad which shows how far forward the club has come in the last 2 seasons.

The Llandaff North side had a very big pack but the Squirrels competed for everything and this was epitomised by a Man of the Match performance from hooker Matt Lord. Johnny was a salmon in the lineout and this gave the backs licence to cut loose and run from everywhere. Chris Boughton scored two tries with some mesmerising running and seems to be getting back to his best. Great to see veteran Rod  and this seasons newcomer Girth combining well in the centre and bagging tries.

Other notable performances from Ben and Dan in the back row and some ferocious tackling from Mouse and Nicky and great to see youngsters Alex, James and Marchy getting involved. The experience of  Eugene helped steady the scrum and Gerkin played a stormer at scrum half.

To be fair to Llandaff North they dug in in the second half and produced two breakaway tries as a reward for the hard effort they put in throughout the game which was handled well by the ref. Rhiwbina also got another two tries from powerful forward drives combined with sweeping backs play.

All in all a very good day again for Rhiwbina and their loyal supporters and helped take away the bad taste left by Canton failing to show!

Final Score:

Llandaff North 10-38 Rhiwbina

All the best to Hobbsy on his travels to the Orient-(not Leyton Orient!) and see you all in training this week-some really BIG fixtures coming up!
