Longest peal in the method, and first in the method in hand.
Umpires: J K Hobson (Girton), I J Anderson (Fitzwilliam), A J W
Tibbetts (St Catharine's)
Umpires' Report
This long length started at 1325 and immediately settled
into a comfortable rhythm. Every course end and call were
checked and the timing of each block noted. Of the 6 part
composition the timings were 46, 44, 44, 43, 42, and 43 minutes
respectively. The peal ended at 1747 giving an average of 38.5
changes per minute. The ringing
throughout was confident. Of particular note was the fifth part
which was almost faultless. The odd method errors were corrected
immediately before they were able to disrupt the rhythm. The
umpires' job was made easier by some excellent tenor ringing and
conducting.
We would like to congratulate the band on a confident
performance and feel it is certainly worthy of being ratified as
a record peal.
