Peal Records

I started putting my peal, quarter and tower records on computer in about 1980, using my own relational database written in BBC Basic. The latest incarnation of the software is written in Visual C++ and runs under Windows. This allows comprehensive analysis of peals by ringer, tower, method or association, and I can easily answer such questions as with whom have I rung most CUG peals at Cambridge, St Andrew (John Hughes-D'Aeth).

In 2007 I began a rewrite of the software in C#. This should eventually have most of the features of the previous version, along with the ability to access data on the web.

Having got all my own records on file, I have also entered all the records of the Cambridge University Guild. There have been some 1800 CUG Peals. The league table now makes regular appearances at Guild events.

I was Peal Recorder for the Ancient Society of College Youths from 1985-2008, and computerized their peal records back to 1968.
