Class II msc (Microscope Interface): It is often a requirement in the modern laboratory to use a microscope in a class II msc, be it for routine analysis of TSE's , tissue sampling or the manipulations involved with IVF procedures (where a heated worksurface may also be required).

When using a microscope in a class II msc one needs to consider how the cabinet is to be used and the size and type of microscope required, as the distance between the sampling base and the eyepieces will be of critical ergonomic concern.

It may be desirable (and sometimes essential) to have the microscope set to one side of the cabinet (especially in larger width units) as this will afford part of the cabinet not being compromised by the microscope and eyepieces.

Having considerable personal experience of interfacing microscopes and the problems one can avoid if it's done right, Safety Cabinet Solutions could be an extremely useful source of information as mistakes will be both costly and if the cabinets performance is compromised (many designs are) dangerous to the user and others in the local environment.

The Biowiz 2 can be supplied with a microscope interface.
