New Building - Old Building
Our current premises are once more too small for the scout & guide youth demands of Ivybridge (see history). This situation is unlikely to change over time (5,500 new homes to be built at the Sherford New Town site from 2009 onwards and Ivybridge is expected to expand further from about 2012). Thus there is a need for a larger, more modern, and bespoked building to cater for Scouting & Guiding in the Ivybridge area for the next 100 years (On 27th September 2008 the 1st Ivybridge Scouts will have been in existence for 85 years!). This building will cater for all Scouts & Guides of Ivybridge and the surrounding area. The building will also support other charity & community requirements and groups (young & old) in the Ivybridge area.
Summary of New Building Progress
We currently have the support of the Ivybridge Town Council for this project which will benefit the whole community (See minutes of the Town Council Meeting of 3rd September 2007).
We will need to raise a very large amount of money (about £2,200,000) over the coming months & years. A fund raising strategy meeting was held on Saturday 19th January 2008 - a summary of our strategy is here. We currently have £3,000 (fund-raised/match funding/other) in our dedicated project fund and hope to increase this significantly over time. It is hoped the project may complete in 2010. However this depends on funding being available, otherwise it could take several years. Should our primary project (new site and building) fail for any reason, then we will redevelop our Victoria Lane site with the monies collected as our fall back option. On this page and sub-pages we will keep supporters updated with our progress.

Victoria Lane Building
If the new building is to get financial support from grant making organisations, the current building will have to be sold and its value needs to contribute in part to the costs of the new building. Clearly, the building cannot be vacated or the sale finalised until all users can move out to the completed new building.
