This pristine Boys' School crest, still on its original brown paper backing, was found by Tony Louki (1970-75) while clearing his mum's loft.

This Girls' School crest is from Geraldine Charles' blazer.

Chandos Secondary Remembered

Greetings

Welcome to this collection of memorabilia from Chandos Secondary School, Stanmore, UK.  One hopes that past pupils consider this site a 'refuge' from the miserable economic conditions with which we are being confronted.

Let's hope for a return to normality soon - but one fears that it could take a few years.  Remember, you can always re-discover the ‘olden days’ at the annual reunions.

Thuggery

John Willoughby, who attended Chandos during the '70s, recounts a less savoury aspect of school life.

‘Child of the Thirties’

In parts of her 2006 book, Sheila Brook writes of her days at Chandos during the early '40s - and the staff at the Girls’ School.

See Chapter 15 (p. 232) onwards.

Ladies annual reunion

This year, for the 40th anniversary of their departure from Chandos, ladies decided to be a bit more ambitious than usual.  They held an evening buffet and dance at the Chiltern Hotel, Luton.

The ladies risked life-and-limb by inviting husbands and a few old boys from Chandos too.  However, as the ensuing mayhem was reassuringly mild, the ladies are considering a general invitation to all ex-pupils for their 2012 celebration.
