Glenesk Distillery
Founded in 1897 when converted from a flax mill. Originally know as Highland Esk then North Esk then Montrose then Hillside and finally renamed Glenesk in 1980. Converted to a grain distillery in 1938 and back to a malt distillery in 1964. Used as barracks during both world wars when no distilling took place.
