Other Useful Web Sites

Currently there is growing interest in Britons who went to Argentina and other countries in South America. The following sites are of particular interest:

Jeremy Howat's Home Page: Extensive lists, some of which include Scots among English and other Britons. An important source.

Duncan Campbell's Home Page: An essential site for those interested in British people in Southern Patagonia (Argentina and Chile). Contains several thousand names, many Scots among them, and importantly, much interesting background on Patagonia.

Neil Hampshire's Brits in South America database (BiSA) is a valuable and growing database of many thousands of British subjects in South America. Gives names, countries/places and sources of information. Many Britons in Argentina appear on the database.

Ricardo Drault has a web site specifically devoted to Patagonia. His patagoniadatabase contains more than five thousand names, including many British subjects. Also, much other interesting material.

The Greywall site contains many useful documents and links to resources on genealogy in South America.

Electricscotland is a valuable site on aspects of the history and culture of Scotland, plus Scots and Scots-Irish settlers overseas. It has a section on Argentina which includes James Dodds' "Scottish Settlers in the River Plate and Their Churches."
