Charter Trips
From a
couple of years after SCSSA was formed in 1982 members have organised fishing
trips to various UK ports.
The
North East was a regular venue for many years, mainly Whitby, hence the
Whitby Trophy for the heaviest fish caught on a charter boat from any UK port
and an odd trip to Hartlepool. More recent trips have all been to Devon fishing
out of the ports of Noss Mayo, Plymouth and Dartmouth.
The trips have resulted in a number of memorable
fish, such as a Conger weighing 721/2 lbs caught by Ian
Clarke and a Blue Shark estimated over 80 lbs caught by Steve Hicks.
Unfortunately
the last trip was in 1998 and despite members discussing further trips to
Kinsale (Ireland), Whitby, Dartmouth and Weston-Super-Mare none have
materialised.
