Crediton based folk group “Sean & Heard”
(but we say "Seen and Heard") Sean & Heard the Crediton based folk group comprising Ray Heard, John Andrews, Alan Howlett, Cliff Jones and Ray’s daughter Sharon Hortop, have released their first professionally produced CD called “The Riverside Sessions”. The Group are well known around the South West folk clubs and have sung in front of many of their professional folk idols, including Show of Hands, The Spinners, and Cyril Tawney. Sean & Heard were formed in 1995 and although they have several “home made” CDs, Ray and John have always wanted to have a professionally recorded and produced CD. Ray was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2006 and then cancer in December 2008 and wanted to raise money for Force Cancer Charity based in Exeter and thought a CD for the Charity would be a good idea. Their friend Mick Burch, a fellow folk singer, fully supported them with this project and offered to produce the CD and record it in his Riverside Studio in Exeter. Phil Beer of “Show of Hands” then offered to do the CD mastering. Both have given their time and services free. In 2006 Sean & Heard were asked to play at the birthday party for Mick Groves (of the Liverpool group “The Spinners”). Cliff Hall, another of The Spinners, who was also at the party, died recently. The song “Mist Over The Mersey”, a Spinners favourite, was one of the songs sung by Sean & Heard at the party and is included on the CD and is dedicated to the memory of Cliff Hall. The CD
