Glaucoma |
Be sure that you have read carefully the cayce philosophy page as missing any one of the principles there could cost you in some form – we know we have done it. |
There are two basic types of glaucoma; primary closed angle glaucoma and primary open angle glaucoma |

Any person suffering these conditions must seek medical help immediately. |
The term Developmental Glaucoma includes a group of conditions in which the clear fluid which is normally continuously secreted into the eye ball, fails to drain back into the bloodstream due to obstruction by the drainage tissue. This leads to a rise in pressure within the eye, and consequent damage to the nerve of sight (the optic nerve). |
1. |
Checking the appearance of the optic nerve. |
2. |
Check the eye pressure |
3. |
Check the field of vision. |
As with most things the earlier the disease is detected the easier it is to treat, leaving it with this condition could lead to extreme permanent damage to the eye. |

Conventional treatment of Glaucoma |
In all cases the priority is to reduce the eye pressure as quickly as possible so that damage to the optic nerve does not occur. Drops may be recommended which reduce the amount of fluid to the eye. Or surgery may be recommended to either separate the fibres in the drainage tissue thus improving the drainage and thus reducing pressure. Another procedure is to bypass the normal drainage tissue and form a safety valve to keep the pressure at acceptable limits this is called a trabeculectomy. Laser treatment may also help by improving the outflow of the fluid and thus reducing the pressure. However reading the reports from laser treatment indicates that results can be sporadic with a definite trend of decreasing vision over time, as the holes made by it tend to heal over. Further laser treatments may be required and the report says even the safety valve insertion method has sometimes the drawback of healing over and thus stopping the drainage, which increases the pressure. As you can see all of these methods are a mechanical method of reducing the all important eye pressure. These methods are not treating the cause. |
Treatment of children |
There appears to be many forms of infantile glaucoma but the majority there is an abnormal fluid drainage angle and a membrane of sorts, which is covering some part of the drainage mechanism. Other structures affecting the eye may be abnormally formed giving rise to increased pressure. Premature babies and other birth defects can have detrimental effects on the formation of all sorts of tissue and mechanisms. Most treatment is in the form of operations, often the first is a goniotomy where the surgeon cuts the membrane which is causing the blockage to effect drainage. Sometimes the eyes will need watching throughout life. Clearly in cases where the formation of the eye is not correct surgery can be vital in ensuring that pressures are kept in check and thus keep eyesight maintained. |

Cayce gives the causes of Glaucoma; to do with the functioning of the glands in origin with mention of spinal misalignments causing other blockages where proper channels needed to be kept open, Toxins or infectious forces could also cause problems in the system, poor eliminations and kidney and liver imbalances were also mentioned. Karma was also mentioned. |
According to cayce any of these conditions either singly or combined could interfere with the proper nutriments that feed the eyes and or nerve impulses, which go to the eyes. |
Treatment |
Little treatment was recommended directly to the eyes except a mild antiseptic to cleanse the cornea and eyeball itself. |
1. |
Each day have plenty of carrots raw or cooked, lettuce and celery. |
2. |
B1 vitamins one a day for three weeks then leave off for a week and then resume. |
3. |
Beets and tops should be a part of the diet. |
4. |
Jerusalem artichokes three times each week once raw and not larger than a hen egg. |
5. |
Do have fish in the diet and sea foods. |
6. |
Each day do have a through massage from the base of the brain to the ninth cervical with this combination of oil to 4 ounces of Russian white oil or usoline add 1ounce of peanut oil 1/2 ounce of cedar wood oil, 1/4 ounce of sassafras oil, Lanolin (dissolved). The massage preferably to be given in the evening, not rushed but given thoroughly with care. |
Sight can be aided according to cayce by not sitting in dim light and attempting to read or sit where the light reflects upon the face when workng. |
To another he recommended the dry cabinet sweat baths that carry the fumes in the respect of the releasing of iodine in the form of a substance called atomodine that these fumes would be absorbed by the body to be then followed by a massage with this combination of oils- to four oz. of Russian white oil add |
Two oz of witch hazel |
Ten minims of oil of sassafras. |
Massage thoroughly especially in the cervical area and the upper dorsal area. The brachial plexus, and the lumber plexus. |
No heavy or red meats. |
Also used was the radial appliance, a cayce invention recommended over 900 times in his information sheets.Cayce said the device was good for all bodies. |
Finally the next series should be corrections made to the lumber and dorsal to help the kidneys eliminate . |
Adding to the system certain electrical treatments as specified by erlanger. |
Namely a gold solution, two grains to each ounce of distilled water and the spirits of camphor these to be used on alternate days. The nickel pole should be in the right hand and the copper in the left hand for thirty minutes. |
The gold is to increase the stamina of the nerves and the camphor to keep down irritations and work with the leukocytes in the blood. |
To another with similar problems the violet ray was added for three mins over the cerespinal system using the eye applicator. |
For irritation to the eyes apply the irish potato poultice, scrape the potato and apply directly over the eye socket for between 30-60 mins remove and apply a solution of ½ glycothymoline and water as an antiseptic. |
