What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient healing art which has been around for thousands of years. It was first practiced by the early Egyptian and Chinese peoples around 2330 BC.
Reflexology is based on the principle that there are areas or reflex points on the feet which correspond to each organ, gland and structure in the body.
The Reflexologist works on these reflexes to reduce tension all over the body. This improves the blood supply which helps to correct nerve functions and re-establish harmony throughout all the body’s functions. Reflexology can help balance the body’s energies, help towards eliminating toxins, improve circulation, strengthen the immune system, as well as helping the body heal itself.
Since 75%-80% of all today’s diseases are due to stress and tension, Reflexology’s main benefit is that it relaxes the whole body and by treating the reflexes, any blocks are broken down allowing harmony to be restored.
Nobody really knows exactly how Reflexology works, although several theories exist. The International Institute of Reflexology where your therapist trained, agrees with the view that energy is constantly flowing through channels or zones in the body, which terminate to form the reflex points on the feet (and hands). When the energy flow is unimpeded we are healthy, but when it is blocked by tension or congestion ‘dis-ease’
