I had always wanted a dog but was not allowed one as a child. My first dog was in 1978, a GSD, and an assortment of pets followed that with another GSD, a Weimaraner and a CKCS. It was with the CKCS that I attended an Exemption show, now known as Companion shows, and was persuaded to have a go at other shows. A couple more CKCS followed and they introduced me to breeding my first two litters in 1984. Meanwhile, I had fallen for Briards in a big way and they graced my life for the next 20 years, though I never bred a litter of Briards. Indeed, Shardlow did not breed any dogs between 1984 and 1998, preferring just to show the dogs. Over the years a PLS and a TT also lived with us. 1997 saw the arrival of a Lhasa Apso, quite by chance, completely unplanned! That started an era of Apsos and we were well and truly smitten with them. The remaining Briards were getting on in years so we added another large breed to the clan - an Irish Wolfhound. Since 2005 there were only Lhasa Apsos at Shardlow so it was time we gave the Apsos some variety in their play-mates. So a Pug arrived to keep them on their toes (and us). We are not commercial breeders. Occasionally we breed a litter of Lhasa Apso puppies with the emphasis on health and temperament. We are Kennel Club Accredited Breeders with all three accolades.		I have long been interested in homoeopathy, both for myself and my animals, and have seen my husband benefit from magnetic therapy. In the past I have attended a short course in homoeopathy for First Aid in animals, and an introduction to aromatherapy for animals. I have been studying complementary therapies since 2000 when I received initial Reiki attunement and in 2001 I qualified as a USUI REIKI 2 PRACTITIONER. In 2006 I completed Level 1 in Shiatsu with Dogs at Roseheart Kingdom Training Centre for Animals. Following on from this I started studying Canine Massage with the Institute for Complementary Animal Therapiespassing Level 1 with Merit in July 2007. I am currently studying for Level 2/3 and hope to qualify early in 2008. I am an Ecoflow distributor.

March 2004 - Whoopi wins at Crufts !!!!!!!!

Yes, Whoopi won the Junior class at Crufts 2004, with her litter sister Gypsy closely following her paws in 2nd place. Whoopi went on to take the Bitch Reserve CC. What a wonderful day.
Thank you to all of our supporters in UK and especially to those who travelled from Norway to be with us at Crufts: Kurt Espeland who bred Whoopi's mother, Hanne Balken for grooming Whoopi to perfection on the day, Dag for driving them through Norway, Germany. Belgium and France to the UK, and the two Tone's for their cheers. Not forgetting Whoopi's mother Greta, who had to bow to her daughter on this occassion and settle for winning the first ever Good Citizen Class held at Crufts, handled by Kurt.
