    Notes:

N1....From the baptismal record of son John, 1720, born in Broadhyth of Findochty, it may be inferred that Hector may not have survived, and It seems that the family left the village early in the 1720s and are not counted here.

N2....Alex and Helen were likely married in Rathven before the register was started in 1716. The indications are that Helen came from Portknockie or Cullen. Son John was born in the Seatown of Findochty. Daughter Elspet's birth taken from the IGI.

N3....John Prott was described as Skipper in the Parish Session Minutes 1724. This family may have lived in the vicinity of John Ord's residence before moving to the Seatown.

N4....Daughter Elizabeth was born in the Seatown of Findochty.

N5....Janet Allan did not survive as another daughter, born in 1726 was also so named. Margaret Allan was born in the Broadhyth of Findochty.

N6....Daughter Christian was born in Broadhaven of Findochty. No further records of this family occur after 1720, and so they probably left the village, and are recorded but not counted here.

N7....John Flett and family with his two brothers arrived in Findochty about 1719. Along with their brother-in-law, John Allan, (S16), they probably formed the bulk of the crew of Findochty's second fishing boat.

N8....Alex Forbes came from Ruthven parish, he may not have settled in Broadhyth until later in the decade.

N10...Margaret Campbell died in 1726, Donald was last recorded in 1729.

N11...Anna Sutherland died in Broadhyth in April 1724.

N12...Margaret Smith and John Smith were later recorded in Findochty. John married in 1726 and Margaret died in 1735.

N13...Alex McKenzie was also a seaman. He married Anna McCulloch in the parish of Logie-Easter in Ross & Cromarty, who was also identified as spouse to Alex McKenzie from her burial entry in 1743. She was witness at the baptism of Anna Mckenzie and John Flett's daughter Anna in 1737, who may have been a grandchild, and so Anna is recorded here as a daughter. Alex McKenzie was recorded as a cooper in the Session Minutes in 1723.

N14...Alex and Janet Wiseman died in Broadhyth in 1726 and 1727 respectively.

N15...William Mcbay was awarded 3 shiilings from the parish poors' money in 1726; Janet died in Broadhyth in August of the same year, and may have been a widowed mother or more likely a sister. John and Alex from later records are assumed to be brothers.

N16...Alex Bain died in the Broadhyth in March 1728.

N17...Elspet Smith died in Findochtie in April 1726.
