Household Chores
C. M. Flett
May 2005
On Monday morn we start the week by dusting lounge and bedrooms,
With elbow grease and Mr Sheen the kitchen fairly perfumes,
With ready broom and dust-pan I sweep from door to door,
Then finish up on hands and knees to wash the kitchen floor!
On Tuesday we go shopping to buy our week's supplies,
The supermarket up the road, although it lacks in size
Compared to others in the town that lie not quite so far,
We choose for its convenience and space to park the car.
Next day we hit the dining room with dusters and with polish,
Sideboard, tables, bookshelves all get attacked with relish.
Photos of our family, pictures and our treadmill,
Get dusted down twice weekly with expert cleaning skill!
Thursday is a hard day.....each room both large and small
Gets vaccuumed with the Dyson, exclusively my role,
Hall, landing and the bathroom and all the bedrooms too,
Kitchen, lounge and diner as well as the downstairs loo.
On Friday we turn solely to bathroom and the loo,
So now its war-on-germs day.....the many or the few,
With cleaning this and bleaching that, death products to the fore,
I still end up on hands and knees to wash the bathroom floor!
The weekend's here I'm glad to say, an empty schedule's list,
The week's work done, all chores seen to and nothing has been missed,
Inspection passed, I can relax enjoying two days off,
Pro temp the house is spic and span and I may play the toff!
