Class 1A Quines
C.M.Flett
1999
To the Quines I knew in Class 1A,
I dedicate these lines this day.
Still friends, I hope, as once were we.
Whaur are they? - My thematic plea.
Whaur are ye now, swift Betty Hillocks?
Wi' hockey stick you led the phalanx;
At all field games you were most keen,
My symbiotic sporty Freen!
Whaur are ye now, smart Vera Joiner?
Sweetness - neatness - personifier;
You did so well! You made the grade -
And put most of us in the shade!
Whaur are ye now, nice Catherine Flett?
With red silk locks Divinely set;
Your charming smile as us you'd pass -
You were the beauty o' the class!
Click to return to our Poets' corner
Whaur are ye now, dear Franny Christie?
Your laugh and jokes were something tasty;
Your joie de vivre's creative tonic
Made us all go super-sonic!
Whaur are ye fresh-faced, Jean McKenzie?
Whose peach skin drove me to a frenzy;
Your sweet smile failed ne'er to amaze -
Gone forever - idyllic days!
Whaur are ye now sweet Annie Coull?
Whose dimpled cheeks made mony drool;
And deep blue eyes that sparkled bright -
Finechty's most enchanting sight!
Whaur are ye now bright Linda Gordon?
A richt fine quine we're all agreed on;
Laughing and joking your way through class,
You were a bonnie cheery lass!
Now, Sheena Cowie, I knew ye not
In school days past! 'Twas not our lot.
No hint from Fate you'd be my wife,
To share with me our married life.
And so to all, it's been my honour,
To call you Friend in schoolboy manner,
I trust that most I'll meet again,
To laugh and chat as we did then!
But not 'til nineteen ninetyeight,
Did most all meet....and it was great!
A memorable night; a class array!
Linda, "Well done", we all do say!
